How to Support The New Teacher in Her Teaching Profession

Teaching is one of the very challenging professions in the different professional fields.  Aside from it being a difficult job, the goals and objectives that must be tackled by the teacher are very complicated.  This is because teaching students today is far different from that of long time ago.  The lifestyle today has changed drastically and with the changes emanated tremendous advancement too in the way teaching must be imparted to the students plus the students’ attitudes and their behaviors towards their studies.  Education has been declining in the past years due to the new technology which is brainwashing all the children.  Children prefer playing with the computer rather than memorizing their multiplication table.  And this is the reason why new teacher support must be properly addressed in order for the new teacher to be motivated to teach and help with the growing problems in schools.

The teaching profession has been deteriorating because of so many factors that are discouraging to the teacher.  So many teachers are shifting to other jobs that do not require too many pressures.  Being a teacher myself I have experienced the harshness of the situation so I know how it feels to be a new teacher.  In trying to meet the needs of the new teacher in schools, it is still best to have a dialog with the new teacher.  Ask the new teacher what her problems are regarding her job and ask her how you could help.

In some schools the teachers often have a meeting where they could talk about problems in the school.  The new teacher will benefit from the meeting where things regarding problems among teacher and the job itself are discussed.  The new teacher is sometimes faced with a lot of problems in the teaching profession aside from the students who are very hard to handle.  New teachers could learn a lot from the meeting because a lot of things are often tackled. 

There are different factors that affect the teaching process such as behaviors among students, lesson planning, techniques and methods of teaching, how to handle difficult situations, the need for effective learning, ad infinitum.  To address all of these is a very complex job; especially to a new teacher who just started with her teaching profession.  She could get so confused trying to tackle everything and she needs support from other teachers in the school.

The objective of the meeting must be directed to the problem of the new teacher regarding all the areas where she needs help.  As a new teacher lesson planning could be a hard job.  Lesson planning is perhaps one of the hardest parts of the new teacher’s job. The new teacher needs help not only in order to achieve her goals in teaching but also to save time and effort when doing it.  At first lesson planning is hard but it will become easier as the new teacher goes on.  The start of everything is always the hardest but once one gets used to doing it, it will become easier and faster to do.  Seasoned teachers must show the new teacher how she could easily handle lesson planning.  Samples of lesson plans and how they are done could be presented at this point for a more vivid discussion of the subject. 

Aside from lesson planning, the need for the teacher to know the more effective techniques and methods of teaching is very important.  Teaching is not just teaching; there are lots of things to be considered.  Students are individuals with different ranges of intelligence so this facet of the teaching profession must be properly embraced if the teacher wants effective learning.  The different behaviors of the students are also very crucial in the teaching process.  Students learn things differently; there are slow learners and there are fast learners.  This is the hard part of teaching especially for the new teacher, so the more seasoned teachers must help in any way they can so that the new teacher can cope up with the situation.  

In trying to help create a new teacher support program in school, teachers must always take into consideration the needs of the new teacher.  The areas where she is hard up must be tackled first.  What usually happens when the teacher cannot cope is she could give up the position and find an easier job but with your support she could stay and enjoy her job as well.  Encourage the new teacher to join programs that could help her with her profession.  There are seminars for teachers and there are lots of teacher’s groups that she could join for support aside from your support.

A new teacher often finds the teaching profession too difficult to handle.  The teaching profession requires too much effort and time In order for one to be able to carry out her objectives.  The need for a better program for the new teacher is needed so that she will be motivated and encouraged to keep the job.

If the new teacher finds out that there are people whom, she could rely on, she will be able to cope with the pressures of the job.  A new teacher support program will make the new teacher be able to handle things even if they are very difficult if she sees the support from other people around her.

One of the best ways to help a new teacher become familiarized with the teaching job is to introduce to her the different factors affecting the effectiveness of teaching.  She must know the factors first before she could effectively carry her objectives.  The need for a better environment conducive for the students must be created by the teacher and where need is necessary you could give her that support she needs.  Being new in the profession is sometimes very confusing and daunting but if the new teacher is supported by other people, things would be easier for her.

The teaching professions is a complex one that requires extensive training before one would be able to handle things easily and the new teacher needs a good support program that will help her be able to achieve her objectives.  It is not only the things you share with her that will affect the situation but more importantly the way you accept her and be part of the group that will make the new teacher more comfortable in her new job.  By experiencing other teachers’ support, she will be able to develop more confidence and she will be able to achieve her goals as a teacher. 

Helping the new teacher in the areas where she could hardly cope will make her succeed in the teaching profession.  With a support that she needs everything would turn out good for her.  Remember to always give her the encouragement she needs plus a lot of tips to make her become an effective teacher.
